Unfortunately, software glitches mar an otherwise excellent phone. Ads strewn across the interface make for an intrusive user experience. Xiaomi’s Redmi Note series has long been the most successful lineup for the company. Over the years, the series has struck a good balance between performance and price. So it doesn’t come as a surprise that the Redmi Note 7 Pro has a lot of hype surrounding it. The phone promises a high-spec processor and a top-shelf camera at an extremely enticing the paper specs match up with the real world usage experience? We spent a week with the phone to find that out. Here’s our Redmi Note 7 Pro review! About this Redmi Note 7 Pro review I worked on this Redmi Note 7 Pro review over the course of a week. My Note 7 Pro review unit with MIUI 10 Global Beta was used in India on the Airtel network. The unit was running February 1st, 2019 security patch and software version 9 DesignIt has finally happened. Xiaomi has tossed out that long-in-the-tooth, glass-and-metal build of the Redmi Note series and brought in a bit of pizzazz. The Redmi Note 7 Pro is made entirely of glass and uses Gorilla Glass 5 both on the front and the back. The company sent us over the extremely understated black variant to test out. The phone looks very elegant, but it’s the gradient-heavy Nebula Red and Neptune Blue colors that look downright time around, the Redmi Note 7 Pro has gained a bit of thickness because of the use of glass. In my week with the phone, I accidentally dropped it once and the phone came out looking just as new. Other than a few micro scratches, the glass is still looking pristine, but Xiaomi is playing it safe and is bundling a case with the a P2i coating and rubber gaskets, the Redmi Note 7 Pro should survive a splash or resilience appears to be a big factor on the Redmi Note 7 Pro. It would be safe to say that Xiaomi has done a really good job with the Redmi Note 7 Pro’s overall screen on the Redmi Note 7 Pro is a Full HD+ panel with a aspect ratio. The panel is of the IPS LCD variety and it generally looks very good. The phone has support for Widevine L1 DRM so, theoretically, you should not face any issues with watching HD content on default white point is accurate and colors look pleasing and comfortable, but you can make the display warmer or cooler if you extremely glossy body can make it hard to read content when outdoors, but at maximum brightness the experience is is an option to hide the notch if that’s what you prefer, but since this is an LCD display, the software layer shows up in a deep grey tone that is visible at higher brightness the Redmi Note 7 Pro is a Snapdragon 675 chipset paired with 4GB or 6GB of RAM. The latter two ensure that CPU performance is not that far off from the Snapdragon 835, a flagship chipset from just two years ago. The Adreno 612 GPU is where the chipset lags behind the Snapdragon 710 as far as graphics performance is options are 64GB and 128GB and you can expand it via the microSD card slot. As mentioned earlier, the slot is of the hybrid variety so you should be prepared to lose the second SIM card in case you decide to add extra storage. You can expect to find about 51GB of free space on the 64GB version of the Redmi Note 7 Pro has a 4,000mAh battery powering the show. Between the 11nm Snapdragon 675 chipset and MIUI’s battery optimizations, the phone lasts a full day and then some. Battery life will obviously vary depending on use case. Between ample social media use, WhatsApp, and about an hour of phone calls, the battery would easily last me a full day with over 50 percent left over. Over the course of a week of use, I observed an average of six hours of screen on Redmi Note 7 Pro delivers a consistent 6 hours of screen on time. Unlike the vivo V15 Pro, the phone doesn’t drain too much of power while gaming. A half an hour session of PUBG depleted about ten percent Redmi Note 7 Pro ships with support for Quick Charge but Xiaomi hasn’t bundled in a compatible charger in the box. In our chat with Xiaomi, we were told this was a cost-saving measure. Using the standard charger, it took approximately two hours and ten minutes to top off the phone from under five percent performance was sufficiently solid and the phone was able to hold on to the signal even in poor network areas. Phone calls sounded clear and crisp at both the Redmi Note 7 Pro does not support I found the Snapdragon 675 chipset impressive when I first tested it out on the vivo V15 Pro. Cut to the Redmi Note 7 Pro and we’re talking about a phone that is half the price and yet has enough grunt underneath to run practically anything you might want to do on the hardware. At least on paper, the hardware is the real deal. Unfortunately, performance didn’t match up entirely and I’m inclined to believe this is down to Xiaomi’s software optimization — or lack of thereof. The powerful hardware feels constrained by lack of software optimization. There were moments when popping into the home screen took a full second and there were occasional frame drops in the animations for popping open folders. The Camera app locked up on me more than once, and on one occasion, a hard reboot was needed to get the phone running to high, PUBG Mobile ran at a solid clip, until it didn’t. Between the software lock-up and moments when the game would slow down to a slide show, it really feels like Xiaomi needs to spend a bit more time refining the software on the Redmi Note 7 are the Redmi Note 7 Pro benchmark scores for AnTuTu and I don’t really mind MIUI. Xiaomi’s take on Android has seen a lot of general enhancements over the generations and there are enough customization options to please most no app drawer to speak of, and all apps are placed directly on the home screen. I’m still a bit conflicted about the multitasking menu on the Redmi Note 7 Pro. All apps are displayed as cards and Xiaomi has added a few unnecessary shortcuts for a security scan, cleaner and more at the MIUI is still a very feature-rich take on Android but I’m not entirely sold on how intrusive Xiaomi’s services are starting to get. The global version of the phone, when it rolls out, will likely not have any of these ads, but as it stands, the software is perhaps the weakest link the fresh new design, a renewed focus on photography is the biggest change with the Redmi Note 7 Pro. The phone sports a 48-megapixel Sony IMX568 sensor in the primary camera and this is paired with a secondary 5MP camera for depth camera performs best in the 12MP pixel-binned mode. Before we do a deep dive on the camera capabilities of the phone, it would be prudent to discuss why the phone has such a high-resolution sensor. While Xiaomi does offer a full-fledged 48MP mode in the camera interface, this is not something most people will need to — or, for the matter, should — bother with in regular idea here is to enhance camera sensitivity and dynamic range by using pixel binning. Four adjoining pixels are combined and fused together to create a much cleaner 12MP image. I definitely did not expect the Redmi Note 7 Pro to manage this as well as it you are the kind of person who shares a lot of images on social media, the AI mode will be right up your alley. The mode turns up the saturation just a little bit and adds a slight amount of sharpening to the image, making it look perfect for Instagram, straight out of the dedicated night mode on the Redmi Note 7 Pro does a really good job. I tested it across a restaurant as well as a mall at night. In the former, you can see how the mode has not only brought out more details in the shadow region, it has also managed to turn down the highlights and retain more information near the window. Yes, there is a lot of sharpening and close inspection will reveal a lot of flaws, but if you don’t blow up your images on a big screen, this isn’t something you need to worry inside a mall at night, the Night Mode delivers a more realistic looking image but adds a lot of watercolor-like noise reduction artifacts that are noticeable on pixel peeping. For what it’s worth, the low-light shots are rather good and I can handily recommend it as long as you don’t plan on cropping in I really had to point out a weak link in the Redmi Note 7 Pro’s camera, it would likely be the selfie camera. It falls apart in anything less than ideal light. In terms of video specs, the Redmi Note 7 Pro can shoot 4K video at 30fps and there is electronic stabilization available. Yes, this is a great smartphone but if your needs are more general purpose, Samsung’s new M series phones might serve you better. Salah satunya merupakan tempat kamera yang jauh lebih menonjol dari tonjolan tersebut, Redmi Note 7 tidak bisa diletakkan secara datar yang akan membuatnya bergoyang-goyang saat digunakan di atas meja. Bahkan saat menggunakan casing bawaan pun, rumah kamera tersebut masih menyembul keluar walaupun tidak separah hal lainnya dari desain Redmi Note 7 yang sangat disayangkan terletak pada bezel yang mengelilingi layarnya. Smartphone satu ini memang mengusung layar penuh dengan notch bernama Dot Drop, namun menurut saya bezel yang dihadirkan punya ketebalan yang kurang bawahnya mempunyai bezel yang terbilang tebal sedangkan bezel atasnya lebih tipis tetapi masih lebih tebal dibandingkan dengan bezel kiri dan kanan. Tidak terlalu kentara memang saat tengah digunakan, namun terasa sedikit mengurangi estetika desain Redmi Note 7 yang bisa lebih bagus dengan dua hal tersebut, tidak perlu diragukan lagi kalau Redmi Note 7 sangat kekinian sekali. Sudah digunakannya port USB-C, memiliki dua slot kartu SIM salah satunya Hibrida untuk microSD juga, serta infra merah pada bagian atas untuk memanfaatkan aplikasi remote volume dan power juga cukup nyaman ditekan, tidak jauh berbeda dengan perangkat Redmi lainnya buat yang familiar dengan lini satu ini. Desain dari Redmi Note 7 secara keseluruhan terbilang cukup memuaskan untuk keluaran tahun Oke Untuk KeseharianSegmen kamera merupakan segmen yang sangat dibanggakan oleh Xiaomi pada Redmi Note 7 ini berkat hadirnya dua kamera belakang 48MP + 5MP yang dilengkapi dengan Artificial Intelligence untuk menghasilkan foto lebih lagi dengan kemampuan mode Potrait yang bisa digunakan untuk mengambil foto bokeh dan Night mode untuk malam hari. Sebagai catatan, resolusi kamera tersebut tidak benar-benar 48MP melainkan bagian depannya terdapat kamera 13MP lengkap dengan AI Beauty yang akan membuat wajah nampak lebih menarik serta dapat mengambil foto Potrait untuk menghasilkan latar segala spesifikasi itu, bagaimana hasil foto Redmi Note 7 di kenyataannya?Secara keseluruhan, kamera belakang Redmi Note 7 menghasilkan foto yang detil, jelas, dan warna cukup akurat. Mode AI bisa digunakan agar hasil foto dioptimalkan secara otomatis sesuai obyeknya agar foto menjadi lebih baik, namun terkadang saturasi warnanya ditingkatkan terlalu berlebihan sehingga terlihat 48MPMode Auto AIJujur saja, saya tidak menemukan alasan kenapa harus menggunakan mode 48MP yang ditawarkan oleh Redmi Note 7. Kualitas gambarnya secara keseluruhan terbilang sama, bahkan menurut saya hasilnya masih lebih detil yang mode Auto. Memang ukuran foto menjadi lebih besar sehingga lebih mudah untuk di-crop, namun tidak setimpal dengan ukuran file yang menjadi tiga kali AutoMode NightKamera belakang Redmi Note 7 ini sudah cukup mumpuni untuk mengambil foto di malam hari, namun mode Night akan sangat membantu dalam menghasilkan foto yang lebih natural walaupun menurut saya tingkat noise-nya menjadi bertambah. Perbedaan paling mencolok terlihat pada tingkat ekposur yang lebih terjaga sehingga pendaran lampu nampak sebagaimana AutoMode PotraitSegmen selfie merupakan bagian yang masih membutuhkan banyak peningkatan. Foto yang dihasilkan terbilang lumayan, hanya saja tingkat eksposur latar terkadang terlalu berlebihan atau sangat terang sehingga warnanya nampak kurang seimbang. Mode portrait yang dihadirkan mampu memberikan latar buram yang cukup baik, namun pendeteksian pinggiran obyek masih belum Tinggi Untuk GamerBerbicara soal Redmi, tentu saja performa merupakan hal yang tidak boleh dilupakan. Xiaomi terkenal akan perangkat mereka yang punya spesifikasi tinggi dengan harga yang relatif lebih terjangkau dibandingkan kompetitor itu, Xiaomi memberikan chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 berkecepatan hingga 2,2 Ghz yang dilengkapi Artificial Intelligence Engine AIE untuk memaksimalkan kemampuan AI. Chipset fabrikasi 14nm ini menjanjikan performa kelas atas pada smartphone kelas Note 7 hadir dalam beberapa varian, model yang saya gunakan ini memiliki RAM 4GB dan penyimpanan internal 64GB yang bisa diperluas menggunakan microSD hingga 256GB jika tidak ingin menggunakan slot kartu SIM mempunyai bentang 6,3 inci dengan panel IPS beresolusi Full HD+ 2340 x 1080 serta kerapatan piksel 409 ppi. Layar ini mampu menampilkan gambar dengan warna cukup baik, hanya saja tingkat kecerahannya terasa masih kurang saat dilihat di bawah sinar Note 7 ini belum memiliki teknologi Near Field Communication atau lebih dikenal sebagai NFC yang sudah mulai sering digunakan khususnya pada pembayaran uang elektronik seperti keseluruhan, Redmi Note 7 berjalan cukup mulus dalam kebutuhan sehari-hari. Tidak sekali pun saya mengalami kendala seperti lag atau crash saat menjalankan aplikasi. RAM berkapasitas 4GB tersebut sudah sangat mencukupi untuk multitasking berbagai aplikasi dengan performa Redmi Note 7 juga tecermin dari hasil benchmark menggunakan AnTuTu dengan raihan skor mencapai sedangkan pada Geekbench meraih untuk Single-Core dan untuk Multi-Core. Skor tersebut terbilang sangat baik dibandingkan kompetitornya seperti Realme 3 dan Honor 8X yang pernah Gadgetren review juga saat digunakan dalam bermain game, Redmi Note 7 mampu melibas apa pun game yang saya coba mulai dari Mobile Legends, Arena of Valor, PUBG Mobile dan Final Fantasy XV Pocket berjenis MOBA baik itu Mobile Legends dan Arena of Valor dapat saya jalankan dalam kualitas tertinggi termasuk mode High Frame Rate secara lancar. Tidak terasa penurunan kinerja sama sekali saat sedang bertarung tim yang pastinya akan menguntungkan pengguna karena setiap perintah dapat diterima secara juga untuk PUBG Mobile, saya bisa memainkannya dalam pengaturan grafis HD dan Frame Rate High dengan cukup nyaman. Sedangkan untuk Final Fantasy XV Pocket edition yang terbilang cukup berat, Redmi Note 7 tetap mampu menjalankannya dengan merasakan sendiri bagaimana performa Redmi Note 7, maka saya bisa mengatakan kalau smartphone besutan Xiaomi satu ini pantas menjadi smartphone gaming andalan bagi pengguna yang tidak ingin mengeluarkan dana yang dihadirkan sudah sangat mumpuni untuk memenuhi kebutuhan sehari-hari pengguna pada umumnya dengan lancar dan nyaman mulai dari membuka aplikasi media sosial, sekedar browsing, hingga kebutuhan yang lebih berat seperti bermain 10 juga terasa berjalan jauh lebih mulus dibandingkan pendahulunya. Tampilan antar mukanya kini lebih terlihat tidak membosankan dan modern. Perlu diakui kalau kini saya mulai sedikit menyukai MIUI walaupun masih ada kendala serupa yang masih saya temui seperti versi-versi Kuat Untuk Bermain Game LamaRedmi Note 7 dilengkapi baterai berkapasitas 4000mAh yang menjadi sumber kehidupannya dalam keseharian. Dengan kapasitas sebesar itu, pihak Xiaomi menggadang kalau smartphone satu ini mampu menyala selama 7 jam 55 menit saat digunakan bermain saya bisa bermain game Final Fantasy Opera Omnia selama lebih dari 8 jam nonstop tanpa masalah. Pada penghujung hari, baterai masih tersisa 10% dengan screen-on-time mencapai 9 jam 9 menit. Jadi apa yang Xiaomi klaim bisa dikatakan ada benarnya senada juga dapat terlihat pada hasil tes PCMark yang memperlihatkan kalau smartphone ini mampu bertahan hingga 15 jam 12 menit. Tes dari PCMark sendiri mensimulasikan kegiatan yang biasanya dilakukan oleh pengguna baterai yang dapat bertahan lama, kemampuan Redmi Note 7 disempurnakan lagi dengan hadirnya teknologi Qualcomm Quick Charge 4 untuk melakukan pengisian daya cepat. Dalam tes yang saya lakukan, smartphone ini membutuhkan waktu sekitar 52 menit untuk terisi 60% dan 2 jam 20 menit untuk baterai benar-benar terisi hingga kombinasi ini membuat Redmi Note 7 sebagai perangkat tangguh yang bisa digunakan tanpa perlu khawatir baterai habis di tengah hari. Jika memang pemakaian terlalu intensif dan menguras baterai tanpa henti, maka fitur pengisian daya cepat yang dihadirkan akan sangat Note 7 merupakan smartphone yang cukup menarik karena mencentang semua boks yang menurut saya harus dimiliki oleh smartphone agar bisa dikatakan berkualitas dan kompetitif untuk keluaran tahun 2019 walaupun tidak benar-benar Note 7 punya desain yang kekininan, performa tinggi untuk menjalankan segala aplikasi, kamera yang dapat menangkap momen penting dengan baik, dan baterai tahan lama. Keunggulan tersebut belum meliputi berbagai fitur yang mempermudah hidup yang menjadi kekurangan khususnya di sisi desain tergolong tidak terlalu signifikan mengganggu penggunaan sehari-hari. Ini berarti Xiaomi masih punya beberapa hal yang bisa ditingkatkan lagi pada iterasi selanjutnya.
